The Impact of Jackie Robinson

Jackie Robinson is one of the most important people during the civil rights era. He played a huge role in helping African Americans get equal rights and oppurtunities. Robinson took a major step forward for blacks by becoming the first African American to participate in a Major League Baseball game. He broke the color barrier and made people from other ethnicities want to play baseball. Robinsons jersey number, 42, was retired from Major League Baseball and are only allowed to wear it on Jackie Robinson Day. During this day all the baseball players and coaches show their respect by wearing #42.
